Description
Learn about and create a customized mala necklace! We will discuss gemstone meaning, take a look at the anatomy of a mala, and, if desired, set intentions for the pieces we will create. Usually, malas are created with a purpose and intention behind them.

Every aspect of the mala has a specific meaning. Traditionally, malas are used as a tool to help keep our mind focused during the practice of meditation.
In this workshop, the intention is up to you! You can choose to prayerfully make your necklace silently, repeating a mantra as you bless your necklace, or simply come to have fun and create a stunning piece to wear as a fashion accessory. Come create with us!
Malas can be made of many materials. The beads in this workshop are natural gemstones from places all over the world – we use authentic Rudraksha seeds, natural gemstones, bone, wood, various metals and even pearls! You'll be choosing your gemstone beads and your tassel color when you arrive. so come early to get first pick. There will be plenty of options.
Students will learn skills and traditions related to making a traditional mala necklace, including:
Best use of relevant tools
Overhand bead knotting
Securing closures and tassels
Use of spacer beads and bead covers
Balance and layout of your piece
Traditions and tips for making your own tassel
Materials: All tools and supplies will be provided. No experience necessary.
