Consciousness-Raising (also called awareness raising) is a form of activism, popularized by United States feminists in the late 1960s. It often takes the form of a group of people attempting to focus the attention of a wider group on some cause or condition.The process of Consciousness-Raising was the backbone of the 2nd wave of Feminism and highly effective, because it was rooted in community. We often lack these type of interactions as a result of technology. We are planning a series across North Florida with various topics unique to North Florida. We will start the series in Oldest City in America and in the heart of Lincolnville/St Augustine. We will be joined by Feminist Icon, Dorthy Pitman Hughes co-founder of Ms. Magazine and Women's Action Alliance. Space is limited and donations will be accepted at the location.
