Family Rejection Affects Health & Mental Health
Parents and family members are invited to join a REAL conversation in a trusted space with LGBT+ youth, their parents and faith leaders to discuss accepting youth and young adults as together we work to save our children.
We realize these conversations can be difficult for families!
Research shows that gay and transgender youth who are rejected by their families because of their identity are:
More than 8 times as likely to attempt suicide
Nearly 6 times as likely to report high levels of depression
More than 3 times as likely to use illegal drugs
More than 3 times as likely to be at high risk for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases
