COURSE INFORMATION
Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis.
In this FREE 8-hour course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.
Participants earn a three-year certification upon completion.
Topics covered:
Depression and mod disorders
Anxiety disorders
Trauma
Psychosis
Substance use disorders
Participants will:
Learn how to apply a 5-step action plan ub a variety of situations scuh as helping someone through a panic attack, engaging with someone who may be suicidal, or assisting an individual who may have overdosed
Practice intervention strategies in addition to learning about them
Learn effective ways to provide initial help to the appropriate treatments, resources or other supports

Please note: there is a charge for all downtown public parking options within walking distance of the duPont Center; the building does not have a dedicated parking lot or garage. Please plan to arrive early to secure parking.
