The summer of 2017 has been named by some as "The Summer of Hate." Starting with Charlottesville, VA, violent protests broke out across the country. During that summer, nationally-syndicated radio host and First Coast native, Al Letson, covered a protest in Berkeley, CA for Reveal, the multi-platform medium of The Center for Investigative Reporting, a nonprofit organization founded in 1977. The "Rally Against Hate " brought protestors, counter-protestors, Antifa, right wing agitators, and police face to face. At that rally, Letson saw five masked protestors beating an unarmed man. Using his body as a human shield, Letson protected the man from being seriously injured. When it was all over, Letson was left with questions. Who was the man he protected? Who were the people beating him? How did we, as a country, get here? In this moving solo performance, Letson follows the story of all the characters involved, the seismic shift in our politics, and the inevitability of now."Letson held the audience spellbound" - The Star Ledger"Letson demonstrates...he knows how to not only make words sing but also make them resonate with honest conviction." - Curtain Up"Letson's honesty makes it a show worth seeing. It is laugh-out-loud funny at times, intriguing and intellectual at others, but it ultimately communicates the profound truth that a little bit of love goes a long way" - Showbiz Weekly
